Things Are Happening at GCC!

 

Bakke Graduation University 2017 Graduation

Bakke Graduate University held their 2017 graduation exercises at the Gaston Christian Center on Saturday, June 3. Twenty-four Masters and Doctoral degrees were granted to students coming from eleven countries and three continents. The range of studies at BGU is reflected in the degrees granted: six Master of Arts in Global Urban Leadership, four Master of Arts in Social

and Civic Entrepreneurship, one Doctor of Ministry, and eleven Doctor of Transformational Leadership. The graduates and their families then had a sit-down meal and each of the candidates shared their doctoral projects or dissertations with the whole group. The Executive Leadership Council met for three days prior to commencement, under the leadership of Dr. Brad Smith, president of BGU.

 

Center Ministries Join for Christmas

On December 11 there will be a Christmas joint worship service of all seven  congregations that meet in the Gaston Christian Center.

 

Thanksgiving Event

Gateway of Grace hosted several hundred immigrant families for a Thanksgiving meal - the largest event in their history. (gatewayofgrace.org)

 

Karen Fellowship Event

The Karen Baptist Fellowship celebrated their seventh year in existence at the Gaston Christian Center on November 18. It was a joyous event where between 400-500 people attended.

 

Healing Hands Baptizes Two

Healing Hands Ministries chaplain baptized two new believers during the Gaston Oaks Baptist Church's worship service as a result of their ministry to patients.

 

 

Gateway of Grace Leader Graduates

Gateway of Grace can now refer to its director, Samira Izadi Page, as Doctor Page. Samira received her Doctor of Ministries degree from Perkins School of Theology at SMU last month. Congratulations to Samira for all us at the Gaston Christian Center.

 

 

Gracie Sweeney Named Director

Gracie Sweeney is the children's and youth director for all the ethnic congregations that call the Gaston Christian Center home. She is working with the pastors and high school youth to begin a combined English language youth service. the initial service will be held the first Friday in August. She is also working on combined Bible studies, as well as a youth camp.
